Study Indicates that Doctors – Pediatricians Fail to Report Suspicions of Child Abuse

In Indiana and other States, doctors have a duty to repot suspicions of child support. Unfortunately, for a variety of reasons according to a study of child abuse cases in 40 states, doctors and pediatricians often times fail to report incidents or suspicions of child abuse. There are a variety of reasons for failing to report. The key thing to keep in mind for the doctors, pediatricians, and others is the safety of children. Most states provide for immunity for child abuse reporters as long as the report was made in good faith.
