In Pennsylvania and other States, children are the unfortunate victims of accidental shootings and gunshot type of injuries. There are constitutional rights and protections for gun owners. However, with any right and ownership, there is also a degree of responsibility that goes along with it. Whether it is a vehicle, guns, other other object, a parent owning and / or using such items should do so responsibly and with due care. This is especially true when there are children in the area. Like other types of cases involving injury or death, there are typically four legal elements to the case:

1. Duty;
2. Breach of Duty;
3. Causation; and
4. Damages / Injuries.

Because accidental shootings and other cases can be quite complex as to the legal and the practical elements of the case, it is important for the parents of the injured child to contact a Child Injury Lawyer for advice, consultation, and legal representation.

In New Sweickley Township, it was reported that a 9 year old girl was accidentally shot in the shoulder when she was mistaken in the night as a small animal. It happened during a Halloween type party. You can read more about this story at Accidental Shooting Reported in Pennsylvania.
