State%20Map%20Arizona.jpgIn May and June of each year, there are high school graduation parties. This should be a time for celebration and reflection of the milestone of graduating high school. Unfortunately, some high school graduation parties turn from sites of celebration to sites of tragedy, personal injuries, and death. In Mesa, Arizona, a police officer and 10 year old child were injured at a high school graduation party. Another man and woman were killed at the party while two others were injured by gunshot wounds. There are many reasons why disputes take place at high school parties. Sometimes, it is a fight over a girlfriend or boyfriend. Sometimes, it is alcohol or drugs that make people violent unreasonable, or dangerous. When you combine any of this with the use of a gun, there can be trouble.

travel%20grand%20canyon.jpgIn Arizona and other States, rivers can be quite dangerous places even for strong young men who believe that they can easily deal with the strong currents, frigid temperatures, and other hazards. Tragically, a dead body was found which will most likely be identified as one of three who jumped into the Colorado River on a hiking trip. The two teens and man were not wearing life vests or jackets. Until family members are contacted and the body is positively identified, the name of the victim will not be released by a newspaper. Search efforts continue for the other two people who were swept away by the strong river current. Schools in Arizona and other States have a balancing act to perform every day. Administrators and teachers must balance safety / order with the constitutional rights of the students. Savana Redding, a former student at Safford Middle School in Arizona, was strip searched in the school when Savana was in eighth grade. Savana is now 19 years old. School officials suspected that Savana had Ibuprofen. The search yielded no drugs whatsoever. After all of these years, Savana’s case is still pending. School officials questioned Savana and then performed the search when another student claimed that Savana gave the student prescription strength Ibuprofen. Savana sued the Safford School District. A court later determined that Savana’s constitutional rights were violated and she was entitled to compensation for her damages. household%20front%20loading%20washing%20machine%20close%20up.jpgIn Arizona and other cities throughout the United States, household appliances can be very dangerous to small children. What seems like a fun play area to an infant, toddler, or child can prove to be very dangerous or even deadly. The household appliance known as the dryer is not a playground or toy for a child. Once inside, a child can sustain serious personal injuries including head injuries. Parents and caregivers should keep children out of the laundry room and certainly out of the appliances. Some family members thought it was cute when the 1 year old was in the dryer. Again, the dryer is not a toy. For more information on this story, go to Arizona Man Accused of Putting Child in Dryer.

health%20medications%20ibuprofen%20advil.jpgIn many school districts including the one in Tucson, Arizona, the school district or school board has a zero drug tolerance policy in the public school system. Crack, Meth, and, even aspirin are prohibited in the school system. There are many cases that have been reported where a child / student was suspended from school for having aspirin, Tylenol, or even vitamins in schools. There should be a distinction between Crack and Aspirin but the zero drug tolerance policy seems to lump all drugs and medications together.
